2.      The CCofC Farmers’ Market is designed for individuals to display and sell:
a.       Fresh vegetables and fruits which must be clean. Samples may only be cut at the market and picked up with picks or forks by the customer.
b.      Baked goods must be packaged and sealed in new plastic bags. No cream pies can be sold at the Farmers’ Market.
c.       Honey must be processed according to USDA rules.
d.      Soft spreads such as jellies/jams must be processed according to USDA rules. The use of paraffin is no longer acceptable. Any other canned produce is prohibited at farmers’ markets.
e.       Eggs must be kept at 45 degrees. Vendors selling eggs must obtain an egg number from the Nebraska Department of Agriculture and display this number at each market. Vendors are responsible for maintaining safe temperatures and having a thermometer in the cooler.
f.        Frozen meats must be from an inspected source, properly labeled and packaged and maintained in a frozen condition. Proof of certification should be displayed.
g.      Flowers, plants and crafts may also be sold. When selling non-food items, the seller must have a sales tax permit prior to obtaining a farmers’ market stall permit. Only food items, garden seed, bulbs or plants that are produced for the purpose of producing food are sales tax exempt. A sales tax permit may be obtained from: State of Nebraska, Dept. of Revenue, PO Box 94818, Lincoln, NE 68509-4818. The sales tax permit must be displayed at each market.
3.      Vendors are responsible for knowing and understanding the regulations concerning their product and are expected to abide by them.
4.      There is a non-refundable annual fee of $25 which covers market insurance, advertising and a page on the Chamber website. This is a one-time fee no matter how many times the vendor sets up (one time or 21 times). The fee is payable at the time the market application is sent in to the Chamber. There is no fee for youth under 16 years of age, but please complete the registration form for our office.
5.      Each vendor is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe area. Due to the location of this Farmers’ Market, no smoking will be allowed.
6.      Be considerate of other vendor’s rights. Treat others as you would like to be treated.
7.      Senior Citizen Coupons may be accepted. The NE Dept. of Ag requires proof of certification before accepting these coupons. Certification must be displayed. These coupons are for fresh produce purchased at a farmers’ market only.
8.      Each vendor agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Chadron Farmers’ Market, the Chadron Chamber of Commerce and volunteers from any and all causes of action which may arise from operation of the Farmers’ Market. Each vendor is responsible for maintaining the security of their cash and product. Vendors need to provide all supplies and equipment necessary to set up a booth. (Example: tables, chairs, tent, etc.)
9.      These guidelines are for the protection of all vendors and their customers. We ask that all vendors abide by them or risk suspension from this farmers’ market.

11. The Chadron Farmers’ Market does not discriminate on the basis of disability, national origin, gender, race or religion.
