Thank you for your interest in the Chadron and Dawes County area as a relocation destination. There are many advantages to living in the Dawes County area. Chadron is located in the scenic Pine Ridge of Nebraska just south of the Black Hills and west of the Sandhills. This area offers an outstanding array of recreational opportunities including two state parks and several museums. Chadron has a new 90,000 square foot hospital with twenty-five beds in the building stages, to incorporate the existing medical clinic, and other health care providers. We have a variety of shopping and service businesses, lodging and restaurants, area attractions and events… and more.
We enjoy low crime rates and excellent school facilities including Chadron State College, a fully accredited four - year state college. Besides degreed programs the college provides the community with the following: cultural programs and athletic events; a Child Development Center Laboratory; an activity center open to public membership: a walking path and a commitment to community involvement including housing the local Nebraska Business Development Center on campus.
