07/18/2009 - Ride the Ridge
Join us for the Annual "Ride the Ridge". The ride will begin 12.2 miles south of Chadron on Hwy 385 at mile marker 156. We will have signs marking the turn in. The ride will be on the Chadron Creek Wildlife Management Area. Lots of parking is available courtesy of Mr. Larry Dexter. No permits are required as you will be parking on private land. Please come early, register, and enjoy coffee and rolls furnished by the Chadron Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee and Dr. John Gamby, DVM.
Please bring your own noon lunch and drinking water for yourself for the day. Horse water will be available. We are planning a 10-11 mile ride through the beautiful pine ridge of Nebraska. This event was started in 1991 and continues today as a free event for one and all. The trail will be moderate with several Kodak moments of scenery and wildlife.
If you need horse accomodations before or after the ride call Fort Robinson State Park at 308-665-2900. Fort Robinson is near Crawford and they have box stalls and camper sights. A few corral pens and primitive camping are available at "The Ridge Trail Head" located 7.6 miles south of Chadron on Hwy 385 between mile marker 160 & 161, which is just north of Chadron State Park on Hwy 385.
