Chadron State Park Public Bird Banding
Join us as we explore the fantastic world of birds! Bring your family out for an opportunity to help collect scientific data about western Nebraska birds! The bird banding station is now open at Chadron State Park through October 14, 2016. Over Labor Day we’re inviting the public out for Public Days at the Bird Banding Station! The station will be open to the public daily on September 3, 4 & 5 from 7am to 11am, and is located at the Sawmill Shelter, weather permitting. This event is free to the public, however you’ll need a vehicle park pass to enter Chadron State Park. The station not only serves to monitor resident and migratory species, but also acts as a tool for educating both school groups and the general public. The bird banding stations are run through the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies (formerly Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory) with support from Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and Nebraska Environmental Trust. For questions contact Amber Schiltz, Nebraska Wildlife Education Coordinator at amber.schiltz@birdconservancy.org or (308)783-1019.
